A piece of fried chicken that becomes public property the moment somebody says they’re saving it.[1]
Discovery
The last piece is first noticed when someone says, “Is anybody gonna eat that?” This is generally said with one hand already in the box.
Methods of preservation
Closing the lid buys several minutes. Writing your name on the lid is stronger protection, provided the person eating it bothers to turn the lid over.
Dispute resolution
In the landmark case of I Called It v. You Left the Room, the panel ruled that leaving the room counted as a recess. The ruling was issued after lunch, when the evidence had already been disposed of.
