Clarence Thomas and the RV loan

From Niggapedia, the free encyclopedia

In 1999, businessman Anthony Welters lent U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife $267,230 to purchase a luxury motorcoach. The loan later drew scrutiny from the Senate Finance Committee.[1]

Loan and repayment

Senate Finance Committee staff concluded that a substantial portion of the principal went unpaid. Thomas’s lawyer said the loan was satisfied and that the terms were mutually agreed upon.

Satirical assessment

Most people have to establish credit before they buy a second home. It helps when your second home has wheels and your friend is the bank.

In the political sense discussed in the house-slavery entry, the point of the comparison is who benefits from proximity to power. Here, proximity came with a motorcoach.
